Real Madrid sets up Super Cup final clash with Barcelona after win over Mallorca

Real Madrid secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Real Mallorca in the Spanish Super Cup semifinals, setting up a highly anticipated final clash with arch-rivals Barcelona. The match, played in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, saw Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo score crucial goals, with Martin Valjent’s own goal adding to Mallorca’s misery.

Madrid dominated the early stages of the game, with Lucas Vazquez and Rodrygo coming close to scoring. However, Mallorca found their footing and managed to restrict the Spanish and European champions to few clear chances in the first half. The game’s momentum shifted in Madrid’s favor in the second half, with Bellingham scoring the opening goal in the 63rd minute.

Bellingham’s goal was the result of a blistering Madrid move, which saw Rodrygo’s header and Kylian Mbappe’s effort kept out by Mallorca goalkeeper Dominik Greif. However, Bellingham was on hand to slot home the rebound, continuing his impressive run of form. The England international has now scored eight goals for Madrid in his last 10 games across all competitions.

Mallorca struggled to find a way back into the game, and their efforts were further hindered when Valjent scored an own goal in stoppage time. Rodrygo then added a late third goal, sealing Madrid’s 3-0 victory and setting up a mouth-watering final clash with Barcelona.

The final, which will take place on Sunday, will be a repeat of last season’s final, which Madrid won. Barcelona secured their place in the final with a 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilorca in the other semifinal. The highly anticipated clash between Madrid and Barcelona promises to be an exciting encounter, with both teams eager to claim the Spanish Super Cup title.

Madrid’s victory over Mallorca was a testament to their strength and depth, with Carlo Ancelotti’s side looking formidable ahead of the final. With the likes of Bellingham, Rodrygo, and Mbappe in their ranks, Madrid will be confident of overcoming Barcelona and claiming the Spanish Super Cup title.
