While several reports have stated that Real Madrid have agreed on a verbal deal with Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies, the Los Blancos are just getting set to make their first official offer to the German Bundesliga side.
Davies’s contract will enter its final twelve months in the summer, and Real Madrid are anticipating a cheaper price from Bayern Munich, who would look to cash in on the player.
Bayern Munich rates the player at €50m, while Real Madrid plans to submit a bid in the region of €35m to the Bundesliga champions. Furthermore, Real Madrid are also planning to hand the Canadian international a four-year contract till the 2027/2028 season.
Alphonso Davies has played eighteen times in the Bundesliga this season, scoring once and providing three assists. The Canadian international is Real Madrid’s choice to take over Ferland Mendy, who is currently Real’s first-choice left-back.
Mendy has been at the club since 2019, making over a hundred appearances and winning everything possible with the capital club.
Canada international Davies could soon take over that spot either this summer or the summer of 2025. Davies, who joined Bayern in 2018, has made 180 appearances for the club and also has experience playing as a left-wing back.
During his time at the Bavarian Giants, Davies won the Champions League, five Bundesliga titles, the DFB-Pokal, and the Club World Cup.
Meanwhile, Bayern’s new director, Eberl, revealed on Tuesday that the club is already in discussion with Alphonso Davies about a possible contract renewal.
“No club wants to lose players for free… of course. We already had discussions with his agent, so I will now try to continue the conversation. I have to see how the situation is”. Eberl said.
Alphonso Davies is not Real Madrid’s only target for this summer, as the club has approached French forward Kylian Mbappe about the possibility of moving to Spain to join Los Blancos.
