La Liga side Real Madrid is putting everything in place to bring in Canadian defender Alphonso Davies in their squad for the next season. The Los Blancos have been ravaged by injuries of late and have been swapping Fran Garcia and Ferland Mendy in the left-back position this campaign.
Real Madrid were expected to have Kylian Mbappe as their biggest summer transfer target, but while they will subconsciously assess the possibility of bringing in the PSG forward, the Canadian is another key interest for Carlo Ancelotti’s team.
Davies is still contracted to Bayern Munich till June 2025 and has been crucial to the team this season after playing every single UEFA Champions League match and fourteen of fifteen Bundesliga matches that Bayern Munich has played so far.
Carlo Ancelotti is believed to be putting plans in place to revamp his side after winning just the Copa Del Rey last season. He was linked with a possible move to become the Brazilian national team’s head coach.
However, the deal to become Brazil’s national team president is off, and the Italian has signed a contract extension at the Santiago Bernabeu till June 2026.
Last summer, Real Madrid signed Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund but also let go of some key players, including Karim Benzema, who left for Saudi Arabia.
Davies has played 176 appearances for Bayern Munich and won 13 titles for the club, which includes five Bundesliga titles and the 2020 UEFA Champions League title.
Real Madrid will face Atletico Madrid in the Supercopa Semifinal on Wednesday in Saudi Arabia. The city rivals will face each other one more time in January after the Copa Del Rey R16 draws pitted both teams together.
