Real Madrid defeated Eibar 3-1 in the La Liga on Sunday evening as Karim Benzema, Luka Modric, and Lucas Vasquez got on the scoresheet.
Zidane’s men made it 5 wins in a row in all competitions to join Atletico Madrid as joint leaders with 29 points, albeit Diego Simeone’s side lead on goals difference having played two games less.
Madrid took the lead in the game within the first ten minutes through Benzema before Luka Modric scored in the 13th minutes.
Kike pulled one back for the hosts in the 28th minute, but the game’s final goal would only come in the 92nd minute of the game to make Real Madrid’s win more emphatic.
Meanwhile, Barcelona striker Lionel Messi equalled Brazilian legend Pele’s Record of 643 goals for a Clubside when he scored in Barcelona’s 2-2 draw against Valencia in the La Liga on Saturday.
Messi had his penalty saved by the Valencia goalkeeper Jaume Domenech, but he scored from the rebound with a diving header just before the break.
The game was Messi’s 498 appearances for Barcelona, but his first goal for Barca came in 2005 against Albacete.
Pele scored 643 goals for Brazilian side Santos in 19 seasons between 1956 and 1974.
The draw on Saturday puts Barcelona seven points behind both Madrid sides at the top of the log. Atletico Madrid had beaten Elche 3-1 on Saturday.
Up next for Real Madrid is a home tie against Granada in the La Liga on the 23rd of December, while for Barcelona, they would travel to Valladolid a day before.
Real Sociedad would hope to reduce the gap between themselves and Atletico Madrid when both sides meet on Tuesday at Real Sociedad home ground.
Valencia would also host Sevilla while Atletico Bilbao will visit Villarreal.
