Manchester United star defender Raphael Varane holds youngsters, Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Pellistri in high regard and feels that they can make great impact for the club this season.
The duo have shown promise and they continue grow into great players and they definitely have Varane’s vote of confidence. Both Garnacho and Pellistri have shown that they are special players to come out of the Untied academy.
In 34 appearances, Garnachio has already arrived and made a huge mark scoring four goals and has provided five assists. His contribution has been quite significant and therefore he has been called up by Lionel Scaloni for the Argentina national team.
Pellistri on the other hand has not featured for the club that regularly. He has featured in six matches and has notched up an assist. But the talent that he possesses is clear as he has impressed many in the limited opportunities that he has received.
Varane spoke about the dynamic young duo after United played out a stalemate against Southampton. He said,”I think they have great talent, you saw it today, They can bring speed on the pitch, they can create opportunities, create danger. We need these kind of players to make the difference and change games.”
The Red Devils are third in the Premier League points table as they have mustered 50 points from 26 league games. They are only behind Manchester City and league leaders Arsenal. United are currently 16 points behind despite having a game at hand.
United’s focus will now be on the Europa League second leg against Real Betis followed by the FA Cup quarterfinals against Fulham. Their thoughts on the Premier League will be on the back burner for now as cup competitions are the best opportunities for Ten Hag to finish this season with more than one silverware.
United will return to Premier League action when he return to action only on 2nd April when they host Newcastle United. Following the Europa League and the FA Cup quarterfinals there’s also the international break. So these two cup matches are extremely crucial for the Red Devils.
Erik ten Hag’s men are already 4-1 up in the Europa League as they played out a fantastic first leg. So the second leg is more of a mere formality but they have to be alert and not allow any chance to Real Betis. Following that a tricky test against Fulham awaits at home.
