Bvb star Raphael Guerreiro has signed a four-day year deal to continue with the club till 2023.
After months of waiting, the Dortmund defender has deemed it fit to extend his contract with the German club. With his contract due to expire at the end of the season. Guerreiro was heavily linked with a move away from the club this summer after several big clubs like Paris St. Germain and Barcelona showed an interest in signing the Portuguese international. Still, a move failed to happen at the end.
Borussia Dortmund Sporting Director Michael Zorc revealed last month that Guerreiro had agreed to a deal in principle to extend his contract with the club. However, reports emanated the previous week that his extension is on hold due to legal reasons. And after weeks of waiting, the club has finally announced the deal extension, with Guerreiro signing a new four-year contract which will keep him at the club till 2023.
Michael Zorc, when announcing the new deal, he said: ” Raphael is an experienced international at the highest level and a highly technically gifted first-class footballer.”
Raphael Guerreiro also gave his statement immediately after he signed the new deal. He said; Borussia Dortmund is a beautiful club where I feel very comfortable at home with my family for the past three years, and I will put in my best efforts to help the team accomplish their goals and we will start with one this Saturday with a home victory against Monchengladbach”.
The 25- year old who is currently in his fourth season as a Dortmund player has established himself as an essential member of the team. His versatility and ability to play in multiple positions have made him an indispensable asset for Lucien Favre. He was previously used on the wing last season before he returned to his preferred left-back role in the absence of Nico Schulz this season.
There is no doubt that Guerreiro brings something unique to the team. His consistency, versatility, and fitness are top-notch, and he is one of the most technically gifted in the Dortmund squad, and his extension is a piece of excellent news for the club.
Dortmund will face Monchengladbach in their next game. Dortmund are backed at 1.38 to defeat Monchengladbach, while Monchengladbach are available at 6.38.
