Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has praised Aaron Ramsdale’s influence in Arsenal’s 2-0 win against Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Gunners made a short trip to their North London rivals, knowing fully well that a victory will take them to eight points ahead of their nearest rivals Manchester City Lost 1-2 to their City neighbours Manchester United on Saturday.
Arsenal haven’t lost since their defeat to Manchester United in September, and the Red Devils take a trip to Emirates Stadium next week.
Arsenal had a helping hand in their lead against Tottenham Hotspur as Hugo Lloris conceded a freak own goal from a Bukayo Saka shot from a tight angle 14 minutes into the game.
The visitors continued to dominate the first half and were rewarded with another goal from their Norwegian skipper Martin Odegaard nine minutes before halftime.
However, Arsenal couldn’t sustain the momentum in the second half as Tottenham Hotspur tried to find a way back into the game, but time and time again, they were denied by Arsenal’s goalkeeper, and his performance has earned him praise from the Spanish manager, Mikel Arteta.
“He was the difference when we needed him. In the opponent’s box, we didn’t finalize the actions as well as we should have. They have the quality when you look at Tottenham’s front three – that is always in the back of your mind.” Arteta said.
Arsenal will now welcome Manchester United to the Emirates Stadium next weekend. Meanwhile, in other games, Chelsea got their first victory in as many games when they defeated Crystal Palace 1-0 on Sunday courtesy of a Kai Havertz goal.
Elsewhere, Newcastle were able to get a 1-0 victory over Fulham, while Liverpool were thrashed 3-0 by Brighton on Saturday.
