English forward Raheem Sterling came out to explain some of the background details of his recent move from London club Chelsea to their North London rivals Arsenal just before the end of the summer transfer window last Friday.
Raheem Sterling completed a season long loan move to Arsenal after Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca revealed that the former Manchester City forward was not in his plans for the season with the Blues’s bloated squad.
Sterling described the Arsenal news as a perfect fit for him and was happy that they were able to get it over the line.
“I’m buzzing. It’s one where we left it late, but it’s one I was hoping for. Looking at everything, I’m just like. It’s a perfect fit for me to be at a football club like this, where you can see that hunger, that desire, year on year, they are pushing and pushing and pushing. That’s exactly how I am as a person. It’s time now to meet the boys, get settled in, and hopefully, see some game time and make my mark.” Sterling said.
The Premier League veteran claimed that despite some believing that he doesn’t have much to offer, he still believes that each year, he wants to get better and do better than the previous year. Sterling also revealed that he intends to gel really well with the rest of the team and get going with the Gunners.
Raheem Sterling was omitted from England’s Euro 2024 squad to Germany by Gareth Southgate and was also overlooked by Lee Carsley for the September Nations League games against Ireland in Dublin and Finland in London.
Arsenal also started their season with two victories from three games, with the third one being a 1-1 draw with Brighton on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium. Mikel Arteta’s men return to action after the international break with the North London derby against Tottenham.
