According to the French newspaper ‘Libération,’ PSG president Al-Khelaifi is implicated in the imprisonment of an Algerian businessman.
Apparently, the PSG president is part of a complex case involving blackmail, abuse, and extortion of a French-Algerian businessman who allegedly had compromising information about Al-Khelaïfi.
Tayeb B. was arrested in Qatar on January 13, 2020, and imprisoned until November 1 of that same year. The businessman allegedly had sensitive material in which the name of the PSG leader would appear as one of those involved in the irregular election of Qatar as the venue for the next World Cup.
Tayeb was subjected to intense psychological pressure and was only released after handing over the documents to Al-Khelaïfi’s lawyers through a confidential agreement.
According to what is read in the published investigative work, the arrest would have been by order of the Emir of Qatar.
Al-Khelaïfi has strong links with the political leaders of Qatar.
For example, the New York Times revealed that the Qatari government had supported PSG to close the millionaire renewal agreement for Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappé will earn 250 million dollars for three seasons, approximately 83 million for each one. The New York Times states that Mbappé received around 125 million for the renewal signing, the most significant payment made to a player without a contract in the sport’s history.
Mbappé has insisted that the vast sums of money offered were not what led them to make their final decision to remain in France since, as for his quality as a player in any club, they will offer him a lot of money.
Mbappé’s case was one of the most controversial in the past transfer market since the player had a verbal agreement with Real Madrid, a club that had been trying to sign him for five years.
