Paris Saint Germain are looking at adding to their midfield ranks by making plans to sign star midfielder Houssem Aouar. The Parisiens sporting director Leonardo has made the middle of the park a priority, as he looks to add some height and fresh legs to the team.
According to reports, Aouar has been a previous target for Liverpool and Barcelona, but Lyon’s president has vowed to keep hold of the youngster, making
him remain at the club.
The club’s director [Leonardo] and President Nasser Al-Kehlaifi are very much interested in Aouar and will love to bring the 21- year old to the French capital at the end of the season.
The duo feels adding Aouar to the team will benefit another French talent Kylian Mbappe. Currently, as it stands, Aouar stats have been impressive so far, averaging 81 minutes per game, and he is an integral figure for Lyon as they occupy the seventh place in the Ligue 1 standings just seven points behind Stade Rennais who is in the third position.
For the transfer Aouar to go through, PSG has to overcome two challenges; one, which is the cost, and two, which is to make Lyon’s president Jean- Michel Aulas sanction the sale of his most prized asset. The price tag slapped on Aouar is €50 million, which could be affordable for a club like PSG, but the major thing is making Aulas sell as he always proves tough on negotiations.
It was a similar scenario before Tanguy Ndombele was sold to Premier League side Tottenham, Lyon’s president has been expecting PSG to buy the midfielder, but the Paris club turned them down.
Finally, it remains on how keen PSG is to seal the deal in the summer as they will look to add another hot French prospect to their ranks.
