Despite Barcelona’s interest in their former talisman, Lionel Messi, the latest information says Paris Saint-Germain will continue contract talks with the Argentine as soon as he returns from the World Cup.
After playing for 75 minutes in the Logue 1 last weekend against Auxerre at Parc des Princes, Messi jetted to Abu Dhabi to link up with his teammate ahead of the event, which begins the 20th of November.
With this move, the Ligue 1 champion is aiming to avoid a shock return of Messi to Barcelona.
This is a preventive measure by the Paris club on the 35-year-old whose current contract in the French capital expires this summer. This has led to serious rumours regarding a shock return to Barcelona.
This was also amplified by the comment of Barca president Joan Laporta who had publicly said the doors remained open to Messi at Camp Nou.
The Mail reports that PSG want to offer Messi a two-year contract, and the club intends to offer extensions to Marco Verratti, Sergio Ramos, and Presnel Kimpembe.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner recently rediscovered his old form after struggling during his opening campaign in France.
This way, PSG hope to keep hold of Messi and Kylian Mbappe in their bid to win a Champions League title.
Since Neymar has already signed a new deal, he is not expected to leave soon, but anything can happen in the game.
The other option is to try the MLS if he disagrees with staying for two more years in Paris.
Should PSG win this season’s Champions League, things might change, and the club might decide to let Messi decide his future since what they have been looking for is in the bag already.
But no club would want Messi to be their opponent whether he is half or fully fit, as one magical moment from the seven times world footballer of the year could change the game.
