On Monday, Paris Saint-Germain’s talisman, Kylian Mbappé, suffered a foot injury but could be fit to face Real Madrid in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League last 16 clash.
The injury was a result of a tackle from Idrissa Gueye.
According to RMC Sport and Le Parisien, the Paris Saint-Germain forward suffered a knock in training Monday.
It is now left for the medical team to assure the manager, Mauricio Pochettino, that he will be available for selection 48 hours before the team face Real Madrid at the Bernabeau.
After the Frenchman had undergone medical exams to determine the nature of the injury, the medical team said the result was reassuring that the striker would feature against the Les Merengues he might be joining next summer.
Although his involvement in Wednesday evening’s match at the Santiago Bernabéu has been a doubt, the recent update according to the statement from the club has now cleared that.
Mbappé had been the difference-maker in the first leg with his late winner. He is expected to be the centre of attention in the tie following his push to join the La Liga side last summer.
Having missed the game against Nice on Saturday evening due to suspension, the 23-year-old was again crucial in the win over Saint-Étienne a week ago, scoring a double and setting up another.
Meanwhile, following his tackle against his teammate in training, Gueye has been subjected to racist comments on social media.
It was gathered that the Senegalese accidentally stood on Mbappe’s foot after trying to play the ball, which made the French forward immediately start limping.
As a form of solidarity, Mbappé has stood up to support his teammate with a message on his social media page.
This also made Gueye and his partner turn off comments on their posts.
