Paris Saint-Germain may have to sell Carlos Soler and Manuel Ugarte, as talks for both players could accelerate within the next few days.
27-year-old Ugarte has played a peripheral role ever since moving to PSG two years ago.
Due to the recruitment drive from PSG again this summer, leading to the arrival of João Neves and Désiré Doué in midfield, Soler’s game time looks set to be further limited during the current campaign.
He is among the players that Les Parisiens would like to sell before the closure of the transfer window in just under a fortnight’s time.
Soler has not been short of suitors. La Liga clubs Real Sociedad and Valencia are both in the race. According to L’Équipe, neither club has the means to complete a deal as things stand.
Also in the race for his signature are two Premier League sides: Brighton and Hove Albion and West Ham United. L’Équipe reported that the latter are now making advances to complete a deal, having returned to the negotiating table recently.
Both clubs have opened discussions as they try to conclude a deal for the Spanish international. Les Parisiens want €20m to sign Soler.
In a related development, talks between Manchester United and PSG over the transfer of Manuel Ugarte (23) are accelerating.
Manchester United have never hid their interest in the Uruguay international, who has been their priority target as they look to strengthen their options in midfield.
However, talks with PSG have been difficult due to the difference in valuation of the Uruguayan. Although the reigning Ligue 1 champions are ready to let him leave after the arrival of João Neves earlier this month, they don’t want to lose out financially on a player that they bought just 12 months ago from Sporting for €60 million.
The latest report said talks with PSG are now “accelerating as they are confident of recouping the €60 million paid last year.
