Chelsea players Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi are all set to return to action for their busy Christmas and New Year schedule, a report in the Evening Standard stated.
Manager Frank Lampard confirmed the news after Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with FC Krasnodar in the Champions League on Wednesday. The game was a dead rubber as the Blues had already sealed the top spot in the group.
Ziyech got injured during Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Leeds United at home. He has been a standout player for the Blues ever since his arrival to Stamford Bridge. He has impressed one and all with his vision and creative abilities.
“I think that’s positive. Particularly with Hakim, it’s positive,” said Frank Lampard. Both Ziyech and Hudson-Odoi were ruled out for two weeks. The players had their scans yesterday and it does not appear like either of them have suffered any serious setbacks.”
“Both players are, hopefully, only going to be out for around two weeks. They had scans yesterday and their injuries are showing that they will be about two weeks,” added Lampard.
With the return of the two players, Chelsea will now have the option to rotate their key men as the upcoming fixtures, which are very close to each other, are going to test the fitness of the players.
Many pundits have gone on to appreciate the kind of depth Chelsea have in theoe squad this season. Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp has already labeled them as the favourites to win the Premier League title.
Chelsea had quite a topsy-turvy start though. However, they have bounced back strongly having won four of their last five Premier League games. They now sit at the third spot in the table with 22 points to their name, only two points behind Tottenham Hotspur who are enjoying the view from the top.
They have also qualified for the round of 16 of the Champions League and the superb form of all their key players in Timo Werner, Olivier Giroud, Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech and Kurt Zouma bodes well for the side. Zouma and Werner are currently the joint top scorers for Chelsea in the Premier League, with four goals to each of their names.
