Tottenham Hotspur manager and Postecoglou has revealed that his talks with Tottenham striker Harry Kane did not pose a big disappointment for Spurs fans who want to see the player stay further at the club.
The new Tottenham manager was appointed this summer after leading Celtic to a local treble in Scotland last season, but his first big task has been to keep the twenty-nine-year-old England captain Harry Kane at the Tottenham stadium amid interests from Manchester United, Real Madrid, and PSG and most importantly Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
Bayern Munich have refused to back down on bringing Harry Kane to Allianz Arena this summer, and reports also revealed that the Bundesliga club and Harry Kane had agreed personal terms, although chairman Daniel Levy has revealed that he is not selling the striker for any price tag.
To further keep the striker at the club, the North London club have offered the player a salary in excess of £400,000 per week with his contract at Tottenham remaining one year left.
After talking to the striker on Monday, Postecoglu spoke about the discussion, which he said focused on talks about the progress of the club.
“I had a good chat with Harry. It was nothing earth-shattering as people are seeking. Just a good chat; I introduced myself, and we spoke mainly about the club, where it’s at and where he thinks he can improve. It’s not a specific vision for one person, it’s about the group, and we’re perfectly aligned on that – we want to see a successful team this year.” Postecoglu said.
While the tussle around Harry Kane’s future continues, Tottenham have been able to secure the stay of Korean international Son Heung Min despite interests from Asia.
As Tottenham prepare for their preseason tour, Harry Kane has been included, while goalkeeper Hugo Loris has been omitted to allow him to pursue possible transfers.
