Following Celtic’s 2-0 emphatic win over Aberdeen in the curtain raiser of the SPFL during the weekend, everyone looks fine in the squad after the game. However, that isn’t the case for midfielder Reo Hatate who was substituted due to an injury.
Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou faced the media as he revealed the current injury update to the Japanese international.
“We had to take off Reo in the 66rh minute as we suspected he took a knock due to some hard tackles and injuries to his mouth. When he came off the team, doctors reassessed the situation and felt he needed to relax to avoid escalating the injury.”
“There is still more assessment to be done in the coming days as we look to keep everyone fit ahead of more games this season.”
Postecoglou’s reply indicates that the substitution made during the games was due to precautions to avoid complications as he needs the whole squad healthy.
Celtic kicked off their title. defense after goals from Stephen Welsh and Jota made sure the Hoops got off to a winning start. Hatate showed class and was instrumental in the middle of the park as he made three viral passes in the final third, two shots on target, and one interception despite leaving the pitch an hour later.
It is with high hopes he continues this run of form following his arrival in January last season, playing every part in the Hoop’s success of the SPFL title.
Hatate, 24 years old, will hope to get fit in time for Celtic’s next game against Ross County as he continues his recovery to help his side get another win.
With Postecoglou’s latest comments, it’s safe to say Hatate will be fit and available for selection once again on Saturday.
