Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou remains keen on the fitness update of defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.
The Australian has been putting his squad in order ahead of the crucial tie in Europe against German side RB Leipzig. Currently, as it stands, there are uncertainties about the fitness of Carter-Vickers regarding the trip to Germany.
The USA international was missing yet again in his side’s 2-1 win over Motherwell at the weekend as Welsh and Mortiz Jenz continued their partnership in the heart of the defense.
Following an exclusive interview with the club media, Postecoglou failed to rule out the player’s availability for selection.
He confirmed the absence of Cameron, saying, “He is out, working his way back in the recovery mode. Hopefully, he will return, but I cannot say yet how ready he is to make the game,” he said.
The Hoops manager further revealed the squad is in great shape after the Motherwell game. Although long-term absentee Carl Starfelt remains on the sidelines as he continues to work his way to fitness.
Another player Postecoglou could be sweating over his fitness for Wednesday’s game is Giorgos Giakoumakis. The Greek forward has also been out after suffering a knock while away on international duties. Hopefully, he passes a late check to join the rest of the squad.
The manager will no doubt wants to get his side up to speed as they prepare for matchday three facing RB Leipzig.
The Hoops played out a one-all draw in Poland against Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk.
This time, they will be looking to get their first three points in this year’s edition of the UEFA Champions League. But first, all hands must be on deck with the players’ fitness before the fixture.
