Portugal icon Cristiano Ronaldo has created headlines with his recent interview with Piers Morgan where he has shared his concerns with Manchester United and the people associated with the club including the manager Erik ten Hag. However that is in the past now for the five time Ballon d’Or winner as he has shifted focus to the national team with the FIFA World Cup knocking at the door.
Recently he was seen consoling compatriot Joao Cancelo in training after Portugal head coach Fernando Santos selected Diogo Dalot over the Manchester City fullback in their friendly game against Nigeria. Ronaldo being a leader and the most experienced player of the team was pacifying Cancelo to not be disheartened.
The Manchester City fullback was not very happy despite Ronaldo’s consolation as it was shocking for Cancelo because he has been playing really well for City under Pep Guardiola’s tute;lage. But Diogo Dalot has revived his career aswell at Manchester United under Erik ten Hag. So Fernando Santos is really spoilt for choices but with Cancelo he will have the advantage of playing on either flank.
A video got leaked of the Portugal training and there Bernando Silva was wearing the regular orange colour training bib whereas Cancelo had a yellow bib on and hence some people have started deciphering how the Manchester City fullback was not very happy with the decision.
A twitter user added more to the story as they tweeted, “Cancelo was visibly upset in Portugal’s training today as the Manager informed him Dalot will start the friendly game vs Nigeria. Cristiano told him its just to avoid any unnecessary injuries.”
However Portugal fans were very happy looking at Cristiano Ronaldo’s commitment to the national team and the players ahead of the much important World Cup especially after the fiasco he has had with the club recently. He has been going through a lot this season with his family issues and also waning form. But still he has been very motivated to help his teammates and is raring to prove his point on the field as well on the field in the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.
Ronaldo’s fans from all over the globe expect to rise above all his struggles and controversies as this can be his last World Cup as he is already 37 year old and they want him to go out with a bang.
