French midfielder Paul Pogba will miss Manchester United’s FA Cup tie against West Ham United on Tuesday at the Old Trafford after manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed the player’s injury.
The World Cup winner will also miss the Europa League match against Real Sociedad.
Paul Pogba started United’s 3-3 draw against Everton in the Premier League on Saturday, but he got substituted after just 38 minutes after sustaining a thigh injury.
Pogba was replaced by Fred in the match, and he could spend up to a month on the sideline.
Pogba has played 19 Premier League and 5 UEFA Champions League games for United this season, scoring three goals. Solskjaer has revealed that he won’t take any risk on the player’s fitness.
“It’s an injury that will take a few weeks to heal, He’s just started his recovery, working with the medical staff and we’ll get him back as soon and as safely as we can. Paul has been very important to us and we’re not going to take any risks.” Solskjaer said.
Pogba joins Phil Jones and Eric Bailey on the treatment table as they continue to try to keep up with Manchester City in the race for the title.
Manchester City defeated Liverpool 4-1 on Sunday to extend their gap at the top to five points after United failed to hold on to their lead against Everton.
Edison Cavani and Bruno Fernandes scored in the first half to give United a 2-0 lead into halftime.
However, Abdoulaye Doucoure and James Rodriguez scored within seven minutes of the restart to equalize for Carlo Ancelotti’s men.
Scott McTominay had given the Red Devils what looked like the match-winner in the 70th minute, but Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored his 13th goal of the season to share the spoils for both teams.
After Tuesday’s FA Cup tie against West Ham, Manchester United will play West Brom at the Hawthorns on Saturday in the Premier League before a trip to Spain for a Europa League tie against Real Sociedad next week.
