Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo has revealed that Juventus Chairman Andrea Agnelli spoke to the players about the Super League but insisted their target is to qualify for the next season’s Champions League.
The announcement of the Super League has met several disapproval from teams outside the 12 teams involved in the formation, players, ex-players, and some coaches.
Juventus is among the club that has signed to be part of the Super League. Agnelli has been named it’s vice president.
Speaking on the development, the former Juv midfielder said the team is focused, and the present aim is the qualification for the Champions League. While noting that the President spoke to the team about the project on Tuesday, but said he is not the suitable person to talk about the topic.
Meanwhile, Bundesliga and the French clubs have announced that they were never part of the plan. This has made them be commended in the project, which some have said came as a result of greed.
Pirlo added that Agnelli explained to the team what the project is about but didn’t go into details. He also said the President told them what is important is to focus on the present.
UEFA and FIFA had already said teams involved would be banned from their competitions if their plan goes ahead.
While noting that Agnelli has always been very close to the team, Pirlo called for calm, noting that it’s just a project that won’t stop football from going ahead.
Juventus will resume their fight for the top four when they host Parma at the Allianz Stadium today. They are currently fourth on the log after losing 1-0 against Atlanta last week, two points ahead of Napoli, and two behind Le Dea on the Serie A table.
Pirlo, who said he is planning a few changes in the starting line up won’t be rotating the team much.
According to some latest reports, Andrea Agnelli is set to resign as President of Juventus after whole fiasco concerning the proposed European Super League project.
