Since Cristiano Ronaldo left Juventus, Paulo Dybala has taken over the reins of being the focal point in the attack. However, the Argentine star is expecting to talk about his contract extension with the club. His current contract expires at the end of this season.
Juventus are keen to make Dybala the central figure in Turin. Hence they will resume negotiations with him very soon over a new contract. The Bianconeri started their Champions League campaign with a comfortable 3-0 win over Malmo. Dybala scored the second goal for Juve from the spot.
This was a welcome result for the Bianconeri as they have had a rough spell of games since Ronaldo’s departure.
“I think there will be a new meeting this week. The directors have changed, so we’ve started from the beginning,” Dybala explained to Sky Sports after the final whistle.
“We hope to reach a happy conclusion, I hope there will be good news soon.”
The forward added to Sport Mediaset: “I always try to give my all. The parties are talking, we are all on the same page and hope to reach a happy conclusion.”
Reports in Italy suggest that the Argentine is expecting a substantial wage rise in his new contract as he has already stayed in Turin for more than six years. Dybala also knows that he is crucial to Juve’s plans and hence he is in a position to ask his price.
Also after the game club director Pavel Nedved highlighted the importance of the 27-year-old. “We have put Dybala at the centre of our project,” he said. “We are counting on the player and will try to get the contract signed as soon as possible.”
This win against Malmo comes at the right time for the Bianconeri as they have had a shambolic start to the Serie A. Juventus are currently in the relegation zone after picking up only a single point from three Serie A games. Their only point came against Udinese in their season opener followed by two shocking defeats against Empoli and Napoli.
Hopefully, this win in the Champions League will put them in good stead for the upcoming matches as they go up against AC Milan in the Serie A next.
