Paulo Dybala Confirms Roma Stay Amid Chelsea Speculations

AS Roma forward Paulo Dybala has put an end to speculations linking him with a move to Chelsea, asserting his commitment to the Italian club. The Argentine international, who was recently seen at the British GP and Silverstone, dismissed rumors of a potential transfer to Stamford Bridge and affirmed his readiness to begin training with Roma from Monday, July 10.

In an interview with LaRoma24 at the airport, Dybala swiftly rejected claims of leaving AS Roma for Chelsea this summer, stating, “I’m happy to be at Roma, of course. Am I staying here? Yes, we are starting training tomorrow.”

Thiago Silva, Chelsea’s Brazilian defender, expressed his desire to see Dybala join him at Stamford Bridge. Sky Sports quoted Silva as saying, “I saw Paulo Dybala here, they talk about him coming to Chelsea. I’ve talked with him and asked him if he is coming. He is a world-class player. I would love to play with him, and it would be a massive signing. Let’s see.”

The Blues are keen on adding more experience to their squad as they prepare for the upcoming pre-season tour of the United States. Manager Mauricio Pochettino reportedly wants Chelsea to activate Dybala’s €12 million release clause to secure his services.

AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho, when questioned about Dybala last week, claimed to have no knowledge about the release clause in the player’s contract. Although he admitted to having conversations with Dybala, similar to other players in his team, he stated that he didn’t possess specific information regarding the release clause.

“I don’t know anything about his contract. But obviously, I talk to Paulo like I do with all of my players,” Mourinho was quoted by Football Italia.

Dybala has been an admirer of former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and has spoken highly of him in the past. He praised Mourinho’s influence in the football world and acknowledged their personal rapport, stating, “Jose Mourinho has an image and an important influence due to everything he represents in the world of football. He would be a good chess player. Before arriving here, we spoke twice; he called me when I was still in Turin. I felt a special feeling with him. It’s difficult in the world of football to find someone who says things to you in a sincere way. I have a direct relationship with him,” as quoted by GOAL.

Chelsea has already made signings in the form of Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku this summer to strengthen their attacking options. As Dybala reaffirms his commitment to AS Roma, the club’s fans can look forward to seeing him in action in the upcoming season, putting an end to the transfer speculation surrounding the talented Argentine forward.
