No manager is usually happy whenever an important player is out of the team injured.
Such was the case with Fulham manager, Scott Parker during a press conference at Motspur Park ahead of the Whites’ clash with Middlesborough
Describing the absence of striker, Aleksandar Mitrović, as unideal, the former England midfielder explained that the leading goalscorer tweaked his ankle ligaments in his last game against Hull City which they won 1-0.
While noting that his current situation is not nice, Parker said that’s what he has a squad to choose from, with fit players that can prosecute the games in hand in order to continue the push for promotion back to the English top flight.
He further explained that the London club was initially nervous when Serbia suffered the injury over the weekend, as he left the stadium in a boot.
After having a scan on the injury,m Parker is hoping that he’ll be alright in the next two or three weeks for a player who rarely has serious injuries.
Speaking on the clash against Middlesbrough, Parke noted that they are coming off a very good run, having held Premiership top side Tottenham Hotspurs 1-1 t the Riverside Stadium in the FAC Cup before losing the replay 2-1.
While lauding Jonathan Woodgate for tinkering the team that is unbeaten in four games in the division, after a slow start in the season, the coach who noted that Middlesbrough has some athletes in their teams said, Fulham has to be aware of that.
He added that it is going to be another tough game for a side that recently returned to winning ways after four straight losses.
S[eaking on the confidence-boosting win against Aston Villa in the FAC Cup, Parker pointed that the 2-1 win was a massive boost, which has built their momentum and confidence.
On the club’s promotion push, P[arket noted that despite having a run of fixtures of tough games coming up, he is optimistic about getting good results, adding that the team can do well.
