Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been in charge of Manchester United for three seasons.
Since his arrival in December 2018, Solskjaer has had great support from the club’s hierarchy, especially financially.
But despite having the money and support of the entire club, the Norwegian coach has failed to win silverware.
Solskjaer himself said that it is his responsibility to win a trophy this season because of the club’s support.
“If he [Gary Neville] says we need to win a trophy this season or next, because of the backing, I have to say, yes, I have been backed,” Solskjaer said.
“The progress and the process has worked well. I have to say the backing I’ve got seems to me that we’re sticking to that plan.
“But we’re in a business results. We’re here to win, we’re here to get up there and clearly we’ve improved and expectations have improved, with the signings and better performances.”
It seems that the hierarchy of the club has given Solskjaer a request to win some trophies after the tremendous investment that the club made in the transfer market.
The Red Devils have spent close to € 400 million on players since Solskjaer took over the team. Big names like Donny van de Beek, Jadon Sancho, Harry Maguiere, and Cristiano Ronaldo have arrived at Old Trafford. But at the moment they have not brought with them the results that are expected from such a huge investment.
Some British media speculate that the club could be in search of a replacement for Solskjaer if the club is not fighting for trophies in December.
