Offer arrives from Qatar to buy Manchester United

Qatari sheik Jassim bin Hamad al Thani has made his intention to buy Manchester United public.

The billionaire belongs to the Al Thani family, which has ruled the State of Qatar uninterruptedly since 1868. Currently, he is president of the Qatar Investment Bank, the country’s largest bank.

The aristocrat declares himself a fan of Manchester United, and his idea of a sports project is a commitment to young players and women’s football. Similarly, he plans to rebuild Old Trafford Stadium and eliminate all of the institution’s debts.

Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani wants to return the club to its former glory, both on and off the pitch and will look to return fans to the heart of Manchester United.

The offer presents the intention of investing in the soccer teams, the training center, and the stadium, expanding the club’s infrastructure and, in addition, improving the experience of the fans and the communities that support the club.

In order to avoid conflict of interest between other clubs and that the same ownership cannot be attributed to Manchester United and PSG to prevent future problems, Qatar will enter the Manchester United project through QIB, different from the investment fund QSI, the owner of the Parisian team.

The race to buy OId Trafford’s club heats up as for Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Ineos group, they also made public their intention to buy the Red Devils; the statement sent to the media says: “We can confirm that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos have submitted a bid for majority ownership of Manchester United Football Club. We would see our role as the long-term custodians of Manchester United on behalf of the fans and the wider community. We are ambitious and highly competitive and would want to invest in Manchester United to make them the number one club in the world once again.”

“We also recognise that football governance in this country is at a crossroads. We would want to help lead this next chapter, deepening the culture of English football by making the club a beacon for a modern, progressive, fan-centred approach to ownership. We want a Manchester United anchored in its proud history and roots in the northwest of England, putting the Manchester back into Manchester United and clearly focusing on winning the Champions League.”
