Nottingham Forest signs Elanga from Manchester United

Nottingham Forest continued their summer signings spree on Tuesday as they brought in Swedish forward Anthony Elanga from Manchester United on a five-year deal. The youngster has been in New Jersey with the Red Devils on their pre-season tour of the US.

It is believed that Forests, who survived relegation last season, paid Manchester United £15 million for the 21-year-old. Since making his debut for the first team in 2021, Elanga has managed to make 55 appearances for the club he joined as a 12-year-old.

Elanga made just seven starts last season and played 26 games in total but didn’t score in any as he departs Old Trafford, having registered four senior goals for United.

Nevertheless, the forward revealed that he had interest from outside England, including Germany and from other Premier League clubs like Everton, who wanted him on loan, but the player said that Nottingham Forest is the right place for him to go.

“It’s a pleasure to be here. It’s a proud moment, not only for me but for my family as well. It’s a big step, and I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the Forest fans at the City Ground. I had interest from elsewhere, but for me, Nottingham Forest feels like the perfect place. I’ve been here with United. It’s a special place, but being here with Forest, I feel like it will be even more special. I’m ready for the challenge.” Elanga said.

Anthony Elanga becomes Nottingham Forest’s second summer signing after Nigerian Defender and former Chelsea player Ola Aina joined from Torino earlier.

Nottingham Forest’s chief football officer Ross Wilson said that Anthony had a number of excellent options in front of him, but they, as a club, are naturally delighted that from those, he has chosen to become a Nottingham Forest player.
