According to reports, Norwich City will play friendly games before the Premier League restarts on June 20th.
Norwich City wants to experience empty stadiums while preparing for the resumption of the Premier League behind closed doors.
Reports on Wednesday said that Norwich City wants to face Championship side Queens Park Rangers in an exhibition game next week, although it hasn’t been confirmed yet.
When asked whether playing a friendly would benefit Norwich City’s cause heading into the nine games that remain in the Premier League schedule, manager Daniel Farke said he’d be keen to see if they can take place under proper circumstances.
“At the moment in these strange times, we have to live day to day and make a decision from day to day.
But, if we’re allowed and it’s confirmed under which circumstances we’re allowed, for example, if you’re allowed to use the stadiums to play a friendly.
At the moment, it seems like we are allowed to play friendlies before the start – something the Bundesliga didn’t allow and I think that was not perfect.”
The Bundesliga and other domestic divisions in Germany resumed on May 16 and the three weeks of games since the restart have been a success.
Farke thinks that the Premier League can learn lessons from what the Bundesliga did to return. For example, making sure that players are prepared to deal with the physical load and keeping quality competition when the Premier League restarts with empty stadiums.
