American youth international Sébastian Soto has joined English Premier League club Norwich City on a three-year deal.
The 20-year-old who played for the USA at the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland where he played and scored four goals for the Americans.
He was previously at German club Hannover 96, where he made five senior team appearances before his contract expired. He has signed a three-year contract with the recently relegated side.
The youngster made his excitement known about the move to the side.
“It’s a proud feeling. It’s super exciting to join Norwich City. The facilities here are really impressive. From the minute I arrived here, it’s given me a lot of excitement. Being a young player, it’s nice to hear that the head coach gives us a chance. It was a big factor in me moving here. I’m a striker that loves scoring goals. I love being part of a good team that plays good football.” Soto told Norwich’s official website.
The Canaries will return to the championship next season after a poor 2019-20 English Premier League season where they were bottom of the log after just 21 points from 38 games all season.
Finland striker Teemu Pukki scored only 11 goals from 38 games last season, although he helped his country qualify for the next edition of the Euros championships.
In preparation for the championship return, they have also singed Sunderland youngster Bali Mumba on a four-year deal.
“We’re really happy that we’ve been able to sign him. He’s an incredible young talent.” Canaries boss Daniel Farke said.
Meanwhile, Norwich City could lose one of their best players of last season Max Aarons to German Bundesliga top guns Bayern Munich after the Bundesliga champions showed interest in the defender.
