Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has become a transfer target for Premier League clubs as agents of three Premier League clubs plan to meet with his agent this week.
Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea have all emerged as the teams who have made contact with the Nigerian striker in a bid to bring him in from Italian side Napoli.
The 2015 FIFA under-17 World Cup winner in Chile scored 26 goals and four assists in the Seria A to help Napoli win their first Scudetto title since 1990. He also had five goals in six UEFA Champions League as the Italians got knocked out in the Quarter-finals by AC Milan.
After emerging as the top scorer from the Seria A last season, the 24-year-old has been sought after in the summer transfer window, with Real Madrid initially mentioned as a suitor after Karim Benzema departed for Asia.
French club PSG were also in the running for the energetic forward, but after Real Madrid stated that Joselu’s signing concludes their summer transfer business, the Nigerian seems to have pushed for a move to the Premier League.
Manchester United are looking to sign a striker as their interest in Tottehnam’s Harry Kane continues to be frustrated by Spurs’ reluctance to sell him.
Chelsea seems to have agreed to sell Kai Havertz to Arsenal, and they have also brought in Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig, who can also play as a striker, but Osimhen will function as a proper out-and-out striker for the Blues, who struggled to score goals last season.
Liverpool saw Roberto Firmino leave at the end of the season, but they still have Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, and Diogo Jota, who can all play as the central striker. However, Osimhen signing for Liverpool looks like a good deal that the Reds do not want to pass on.
