Real Madrid suffered their first loss of the season, as the shockingly lost to newly-promoted Cadiz.
Zinedine Zidane’s men suffered defeat for the first time in La Liga this season as Cadiz CF secured an unbelievable 1-0 win at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano.
At the start of the visitors had almost got an early lead by first two minutes when Toni Kroos lost possession, which allowed Alex Fernandez to send in a cross for Alvaro Negredo, and his shot was cleared off the line by Sergio Ramos.
Real Madrid goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, was always under pressure in the first half, as he made saves from Negredo and Juan Cala before Cadiz finally got their deserved goal in the 16th minute.
Cadiz marksman Alvaro Negredo sent down a cross to Anthony Lozano, who played an immaculate chip over the Real Madrid keeper and into the net.
In the second half, Zidane made four changes, as he removed Ramos, Luka Modric, Lucas Vazquez, and Isco.
Halfway into the second-half, Toni Kroos got into space out on the wings and sent a deep cross, which Cadiz goalkeeper Jeremias Ledesma misjudged, and the ball fell to Vinicius, but the young Brazilian winger headed the ball wide.
Real Madrid had a goal disallowed for offside in the 80th minute when substitute Luka Jovic scored from close-range. While Karim Benzema – also came close but saw his rising shot crash back off the crossbar with the keeper already beaten.
Despite all of the second-half attempts by Madrid, Cadiz was resilient as they got their first win over the current La Liga champions since 1991.
Real Madrid will be hoping to regroup ahead of their opening Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk.
Cadiz, runners-up to Huesca Segunda Division last season, have shown that they are here to stay in La Liga.
