Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick has confirmed that the club shot-stopper; Manuel Neuer will stay as the number one goalkeeper next season.
Following the confirmation by the club that Schalke goalkeeper; Alexander Nubel is set to join the Bavarians on a free transfer in the summer, there have been a lot of question marks surrounding Neuer’s future as to if he will continue to remain in goal in the coming 2020/’21 campaign.
However, Flick who has a contract with the club ad as interim manager until the end of the current campaign has revealed that the hierarchy of goalkeepers in the club will not change at the club next season irrespective of Alexander Nubel’s arrival
Flick was questioned about Neuer position and performance in between the sticks, and the manager was quick to praise 33-year old German shot-stopper saying he is a very brilliant goalkeeper with tons of experience and he certainly has no doubts about it.
“To me, there is no alternative or whatsoever. Neuer is a leader both on and off the pitch, which gives him vital security”.
” there is a clear hierarchical structure with the goalkeepers, and it will remain the same in the coming season.
Manuel Neuer who is the club skipper and top choice in the national team have started in all of 25 Bundesliga league games this campaign with ten clean sheets and 26 goals conceded so far.
However, Alexander Nubel, on the other hand, has 20 league starts for Schalke this season, keeping six clean sheets with 27 goals conceded so far.
Bayern has previously made an official announcement via the club website that they had secured the signing of Nubel from Schalke which will see the 23-year old make a move to Allianz Arena in the summer.
