Celtic manager Neil Lennon has calmed the fears of fans by providing an injury update on Odsonne Edouard after he failed to train on Thursday to manage his injury.
The Celtic forward has been injured for quite a while, missing some games for the Hoops. But Lennon has revealed that Edouard will be fit in the race for Sunday’s clash with rivals Rangers.
The team has managed to do without the young French forward after missing three games in a row, but the team has achieved nine goals in his absence. But going into the finals on Sunday, without him[edouard], will be a massive blow as his presence will be highly needed, form the team to count on him to bang in the goals.
After Celtic’s dramatic late win, Lennon gave an update that three of his stars who are injured will be back in training.
He went on further to say, Jonny, Moi and Bloignoli will be training tomorrow and that they have placed Odsonne Edouard on close watch day-to-day as he makes his progress on his injury and the physios are working very hard by giving him every chance.
Edouard has been a massive upgrade in the striking department for Celtic this season as his work rate and ability of trouble defenders plus his goal-scoring ratio making him a nightmare for defenders. If they [Physios] could get him fit in time to play, it will be a massive boost for Lennon as his expertise will be highly needed against Steven Gerard’s side on Sunday.
The manager tried something similar with Elhamed back in September against Rangers when the winger was injured and couldn’t train for almost ten days but was a surprise inclusion in the team. It will be interesting to see how they work on Edouard’s fitness before Sunday’s match against Rangers.
