Celtic manager Neil Lennon has provided an update about the potential return of Ryan Christie’s injury.
The forward picked up an injury in the 2-1 defeat to rivals, Rangers at Parkhead on the 29th of December, 2019. To sum up a bad day for him, he missed a penalty and picking up a controversial three-match ban.
Putting aside all that, the attacker has been battling with a groin knock recently that needed some surgery, which has kept the manager in the dark regarding the extent of his injury. However, the air has been cleared, and Lenny has a clear view of Christie’s injury after speaking to the Scottish media.
He said; we finally have an update on the timeframe on the injury to Ryan. As we all know, it’s a crucial season ahead of us heading into the second half of the season”.
He has been recovering well from the groin surgery. He will miss the first week of the start to the other half of the season. But we hope to have him back as the season goes.”.
It is a massive concern for Christie as he is missing the preparations for the second part of the season. Since he has not been able to train, the areas he will lack in terms of training are his fitness and first-team training with the rest of the teammates.
He is expected to miss games against Patrick Thistle, Kilmarnock, and Ross County, respectively. The Kilmarnock game away seems to be the tricky one as Tom Rogic will be on standby to replace him. But it remains to be seen if Lennon will risk the attacker for that game.
Before Christie is match fit will take till at least the 29th of this month as he will vital to the success in their race to retain the Scottish title this campaign.
