Manchester City gaffer Pep Guardiola believes he has nothing to prove and his legacy is exceptional already even if his team doesn’t go on to win the treble. The Cityzens are in a race for the Premier League title, UEFA Champions League, and the FA Cup.
City are leading Arsenal by four points in the Premier League and they also have a game in hand. Pep Guardiola’s team will take on Real Madrid in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals after their 1-1 draw in the first leg. Furthermore, they will take on Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
The Spaniard added that they know what is at stake when they take on the Los Blancos and they know how important the second leg of the UCL semifinals is.
“My legacy is exceptional already,” he said ahead of facing Real. “I have been here many times already.
“We are not stupid to know how important [Wednesday’] game is. It is maybe one of the most important games since we are together here. We cannot deny that. For the competition, for the rival, for many things.
“I said to the players live it like a huge opportunity, enjoy the moment, we are incredibly lucky to be here. It is in our hands, it depends on us, we don’t have to do something exceptional, just be ourselves and win one game to reach the final.
“We are going to give everything, do everything, I have an incredible feeling about the team. Whatever happens, thank you so much to them to bring me and the City fans to be here again.”
Meanwhile, Guardiola has won the Champions League twice in his career, and both of those victories came during his time at Barcelona but Manchester City has never laid hands on a coveted trophy yet in their club’s history. Thus, Guardiola will be looking to add the missing silverware to City’s glittering cabinet.
The second leg UCL semifinal between Manchester City and Real Madrid will take place on Wednesday night at the Etihad Stadium.
