Indications have shown that Spain striker Alvaro Morata is set to return to the Serie A by joining SC Milan.
According to the latest development in Italy, the move from Atletico Madrid to Milan is now effectively all but a done deal following an agreement between the European 2024 winner and the Ross one right.
The reports also said there is an agreement on the financial details of his new contract in San Siro between both parties, as multiple outlets in Italy said Morata will sign a four-year deal in Milan with the option of an additional 12 months. If the extension is activated, he will be 36 years of age by the time his contract expires.
Calciomercato.com reported that Morata is expected to earn an annual salary of €5.5m, including bonuses.
Before this, Milan must pay the €13m release clause in the Spain captain’s current Atleti deal. It was also suggested that the Rossoneri could have negotiated an alternative fee, likely higher than €13m, but spread over several installments.
With medical dates already agreed upon before a potential debut, Morata has approved the move and is not expecting any further delays.
The Monday evening reports say Morata aims to speak directly with Atletico President Enrique Cerezo, ideally on Tuesday, to inform him of his decision in person.
As a matter of courtesy, Milan is also left to inform Atletico of their intention to activate Morata’s release clause before making any formal transfer.
The player could undergo medical in Madrid this week before leaving for his post-EURO 2024 holiday. So, the medicals are reportedly set for either Wednesday or Thursday.
If the move is completed, the former Juventus striker could be in line to make his Milan debut in a pre-season friendly against Monza in the Berlusconi Trophy match on August 13.
