Ecuadorian footballer Moises Caicedo has made a firm decision, turning down an offer from Liverpool, with his sights set solely on playing for Chelsea. The player’s determination to wear the blue jersey of Chelsea has been highlighted by recent reports despite Liverpool’s attempts to secure his services.
Jürgen Klopp had earlier confirmed Liverpool’s agreement with Caicedo’s current club, Brighton, for a substantial fee of £127 million. However, as renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano indicated, the midfielder’s aspirations lie at Stamford Bridge. “
Klopp shared, “I can confirm that there is an agreement with Brighton and the agents for the player. We have tried to sign him, and the club has done everything possible to bring him in. With the player, we will have to see. Medical checkup today? I can’t tell you, I don’t know,” remarked Klopp, keeping fans guessing. Despite these efforts, Caicedo’s preference for Chelsea has taken precedence, leading to a rejection of Liverpool’s proposition.
Caicedo’s outstanding performance with Brighton has garnered interest from several Premier League clubs. Arsenal’s pursuit of the midfielder last year was curtailed by financial constraints, making Chelsea his favored destination. This preference remains steadfast, in line with recent insights from the Italian journalist.
As the transfer saga unfolds, Chelsea now faces the challenge of presenting an offer that exceeds Liverpool’s bid and persuades Brighton to part ways with their prized asset. With Caicedo’s heart set on Chelsea, the pressure is on the ‘blues’ to make their move and potentially land the Ecuadorian midfielder.
Liverpool have added two other midfielders, MacAllister and Szoboszlai, so Caicedo would have been the third player to join the Reds in this transfer window.
