Alexandre Lacazette ends his contract with Arsenal next summer. The player has only had appearances as a substitute this season, and the club has not offered him a new contract.
Mikel Arteta insists that the French player is a very important part of the club. However, the Spanish coach has a greater preference for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Lacazette rescued a point for the Gunners against Crystal Palace with a goal in the game’s closing minutes. In fact, it is not the first time that Lacazette has dressed up as a hero for Arsenal.
After the game, Lacazette spoke to the press and said that he would like to get more action and have more opportunities under Arteta.
When asked about the future of the player, Arteta said: “Anything is possible.” I had no doubts about that (his work ethic of him), “said Arteta.
“If I had, probably I would suggest to do something different with him in the summer, when a player could not find the motivation or if his interests are just with his financial future.
“It is not the case with Laca, and he has shown that since I have been here every single day. That’s why he is a really important player for us.”
Despite Arteta’s praise, Lacazette has yet to receive an offer from the club, which seems to indicate that they would be looking to sell the player in the winter market.
The player came to Emirates in 2017 and was one of Arsene Wenger’s last hires before leaving the club. Arsenal paid Lyon £ 45m, and it seems to indicate that the club would seek to recoup some of that money by selling off the 30-year-old next January.
