Before the 2022 FIFA World Cup, it looked like Paris Saint-Germaine would tie Lionel Messi to another deal, but things have changed after his success in Qatar.
According to reports, the world cup winner wants to renew his stay with PSG, but salary demands have changed.
There are no doubt offers for the former Barcelona captain from USA and Asia.
The present situation has become less imminent and easy than before the 2022 World Cup.
Having led Argentina to glory in Qatar, Messi’s financial demands have changed, as his father and agent met with Paris Saint-Germain directors, including advisor Luis Campos. Still, no deal was reached, with the two parties agreeing to meet again soon.
Meanwhile, the club’sclub’s financial situation needs to be improved by their elimination at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Round of 16.
This has also made Messi and his entourage consider where he will play beyond the summer when his contract with PSG expires.
PSG can only entice him with the lucrative summer project if he ignores the interest from Saudi Arabia.
Although Messi’s father was in the Saudi capital of Riyadh on Tuesday to hold talks about a matter involving nursery schools with the Ministry of Sports of the country, it doesn’t involve any talk of a transfer.
Meanwhile, Neymar’sNeymar’s future is still in the air as he nurses injury. PSG had intended to offload him despite his contract running until 2025, while Mbappe’s future remains uncertain.
Also, the future of Christophe Galtier remains uncertain. Thus, Messi is concerned about what will happen, as PSG needs to strengthen their team.
Financial Fair Play could also affect his new deal after UEFA warned the Ligue 1 club that they must reduce their wage bill for the 2023/24 season.
Although PSG had stressed that they have the capital to extend Messi’s contract, it remains to be seen under which conditions they would be able to do so.
