Kylian Mbappe was awarded the best male footballer of 2021 at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai and spoke to the media.
Although he finished in ninth place in the 2021 Ballon d’Or rankings, the Paris Saint-Germain forward saw off competition from Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski, and Lionel Messi to pick up the top prize in Dubai.
In his interview with CNN, Mbappé spoke of his delight to play alongside Lionel Messi. He admitted that he has had to adapt his game and make concessions because Messi prefers playing in tight spaces.
The 23-year-old who is the current joint top scorer in the Ligue 1 Uber Eats chart also resisted Spider-Man: No Way Home actor Tom Holland’s entreaty to sign for London club Tottenham Hotspur.
Mbappe has not agreed to an extension with the Paris club, and his current deal has six months left on it. It thus means he can negotiate with any other clubs from January 1 ahead of a summer move.
Mbappe has so far scored 9 goals in the Ligue 1 Uber Eats this season. He is also topping the assists table with eight.
Knowing fully well that he is more in demand than ever, the France prodigy – who just turned 23 – is not ready to succumb to the temptation of a winter move.
Speaking with CNN, the 2018 World Cup winner added that he will give everything he has to win the Champions League, the league, and the cup. According to him, this will give all the pleasure to the fans because they deserve it.
Speaking on his future, Mbappe said he was honest when he enders a transfer request, adding that he expressed what was in his heart.
The mercurial forward, whose stellar performances have helped PSG to be runaway leaders in Ligue 1 Uber Eats, the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, and the Coupe de France Round of 32, said he is happy to stay.
