Mbappe reaches impressive milestone with another goal against Greece

Paris Sainte-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe has reached an incredible figure with another goal against Greece in the European Qualifiers.

The 2018 World Cup winner has now scored 23 goals in 21 games.

Mbappe’s penalty was enough for France to beat Greece in Paris’s hard-fought Euro 2024 qualifier.

France records just two shots on goal in a tepid first half, with Greece’s defense holding firm.

France eventually got the maximum points via a wholly unnecessary penalty concession by Kostas Mavropanos, whose dangerous kung fu-style kick caught Antoine Griezmann, 2hich also landed him a red card. The goal was Les Bleus’ second attempt in the second half.

During his first attempt, Mbappe’s effort was well saved by Odysseas Vlachodimos. But referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz ordered a retake after spotting some encroachment. The PSG superstar converted the second attempt as he coolly slotted home from 12 yards.

Despite being a team with attacking talents, France’s frontline failed to hit top gear in this game, yet their defense maintained their hundred percent clean sheet in this qualifying campaign.

The back four saw little threat as they weren’t tested, with Greece having only three shots on goal.

France can only take positives from Eduardo Camavinga’s performance as he was again impressive in the center of the park.

France will take the 100 percent win record to September 7 when they face the Republic of Ireland in their next qualifier.

Mbappe’s scoring record now rivals Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s best work for their respective countries.

His strike against Gibraltar on Saturday marked the 22nd time in his last 20 that he averaged more than one goal per game.

Ronaldo scored 24 goals in 20 consecutive Portugal matches between July 2016 and June 2018) while Messi netted 23 in 20 Argentina matches between October 2021 and now.

He is now behind Griezmann in France’s all-time highest goalscorer chart.
