According to a report on Goal, Mauricio Pochettino has informed Paris Saint Germain of his decision to leave the club as clubs like Real Madrid and Tottenham are interested in the Argentinian tactician.
The French outfit roped in Pochettino to replace Thomas Tuchel at the start of the year. The former Spurs manager failed to win the Ligue 1 title and even got knocked out in the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League. The only trophies that Pochettino can show are Coupe de France and Trophee des Champions during his stay in Paris.
Pochettino still has a year left on his contract but according to several media outlets Real Madrid are keen to replace him with the departing Zinedine Zidane. Whereas Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the Argentinian tactician as they look ahead for the return of their former boss.
Pochettino has already informed PSG’s Sporting Director Leonardo that he intends to terminate the current contract leaving Leonardo in splits. The Parisians had chalked out a long term plan which included the former Spurs boss but now with him destined to leave the club is forced to look for alternatives.
However, according to Goal, the Argentinian has a special affection for PSG and will accept whatever the decision is made. Even if it means honouring his contract and taking charge of the club for another season.
Real Madrid on the other hand have identified Pochettino as their primary targets to replace Zinedine Zidane who stepped down from his role last week. The decision came after Los Blancos ended the season trophyless but their campaign was much lauded as Zidane had to deal with innumerable injuries throughout.
The Spanish giants also have Inter Milan and current Serie A winning manager Antonio Conte on their radar. Lastly, youth coach and club legend Raul Gonzalez has also emerged as a potential candidate for the big job.
Tottenham Hotspur are also among the top candidates to sign Pochettino as they look to have realized their mistake of sacking the Argentine. Spurs decided to bring in Jose Mourinho by sacking Pochettino and recently Mourinho was also sacked. Hence club Chairman Daniel Levy is looking to bring back Pochettino and has also promised to include him in a long term project.
