Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez has insisted he wants to extend with the Nerazzurri and enjoy the Scuddeto success with his family and the fans.

The Nerazzurri star lifted his first Serie A title as the team’s captain on Sunday after a 1-1 draw against Lazio at San Siro. 

The Argentinean who told DAZN that he couldn’t wait for this special day with his family, said the champions wanted to win their last home game but met a team fighting for the Champions League, which made it difficult.

“We deserved this title; we must be proud of what we did because we had an excellent season”, the 2022 World Cup winner said.

Speaking on his reaction against AC Milan, the match that got them the Serie A trophy that saw him broke into tears, the skipper said it meant a lot, adding that there was a regret for Coppa Italia and Champions League elimination, and for also losing the Champions League Final in the previous campaign.

“Many things accumulated. It’s very difficult to end a 38-match journey above everyone else, so we must continue with work, sacrifice, and humility.”

Meanwhile, the era of Suning may come to an end tomorrow if President Zhang fails to repay a debt of nearly €400m.

Despite the recent development, director Beppe Marotta said before the match that the club is very solid.

While noting that is the duty of the club director to deal with it, Martinez said Inter are focused on the pitch.

“We are calm, and today, we must enjoy this moment, and we must enjoy this party with our families and our fans,” he added.

Concerning update on his contract extension, he said  surely before the weekend, both parties must try to reach an agreement.

His  Inter contract runs out in June 2026 and he is the Serie A’s leading scorer with 24 goals in 33 league fixtures.
