Anthony Martial scored Manchester United’s first hat-trick in seven years as the Red Devils thrashed Sheffield United 3-0 on Wednesday in the Old Trafford English Premier League.
His first goal came in the seventh minute of the first half from a Marcus Rashford assist then added another in the 44th minute just before the break.
The Frenchman completed his hat-trick in the 74th minute as Manchester United won their first game since the resumption of the EPL after playing with a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in the first game back at the weekend.
“I am very happy for Anthony. We have worked with him getting in the box. The first goal, I think that’s a vital goal with the way he turned and got himself into a position to score from Marcus’ cross. He’s getting into those positions more and more. He is in good form.” Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskajer spoke after the match.
In other games played on Wednesday, Newcastle United and Aston Villa played out a 1-1 draw. At the same time, Norwich City lost at home 1-0 to Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Bournemouth 1-0 while Liverpool thrashed Crystal Palace by four goals to nil.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, Fabinho, and Sadio Mane all scored for Liverpool to beat Crystal Palace 4-0. They are now two points away from winning the title for the first time in thirty years.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s next game is on the second of July against second-placed Manchester City.
On Thursday, Burnley host Watford, Arsenal travel to Southampton while the big game will be at the Stamford Bridge as Manchester City travel to Chelsea.
In La Liga, Real Madrid beat Real Mallorca to move to the top of the table despite Barcelona’s victory against Athletic Club on Tuesday.
