After being appointed Marseille coach, Igor Tudor has revealed that he is going to play ‘intense and courageous’ football. This is a clear intention from the new Olympique de Marseille coach.
Speaking at the press on Wednesday after putting pen to paper on a two-year deal to replace the Argentine Jorge Sampaoli
Tudor was the favourite to replace Sampaoli following the Argentine’s resignation last week, and on Monday, Olympique de Marseille named the former Croatia stopper and Juventus assistant coach as the club’s new coach – through to 2024.
The 44-year-old manager conducted his whole presentation press conference in Italian.
He went straight to business, saying he intends to forge Dimitri Payet, Mattéo Guendouzi, Valentin Rongier, Arkadiusz Milk, Cenci Under, Pau Lopez, and co. into a fearsome attacking side.
Speaking on his playing philosophy, he said: “If I start talking about that, we’ll be here until tomorrow. I want an intense, organised, courageous, and attacking game, but not at the expense of defence. My goal is that people leave the stadium without being disappointed.”
Speaking on his objective in the Champions League, the coach said with or without the ball, and they must aim to win all games.
Admitting that there are lots of expectations given the history of the club in the competition, he noted that results will come from their daily work in training.
He further revealed that he works with 15-16 players in order to be able to rotate. He said he would use players that could add value to his team no matter the age.
He left the transfer business to the directors while focusing on football.
