Manuel Neuer’s agent, Thomas Kroth, has confirmed his client is considering his future at Bayern Munich.
The Germany international has spent the last eight years at the Bavarians after leaving Schalke in 2011. Neuer has made over 200 Bundesliga
appearances for Bayern and won seven successive league titles.
He has also won the DFK-Pokal on four occasions as well as lifting the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. Neuer still has
two years left on his contract at the Allianz Arena but reports claim he is unhappy with the ambition that is being shown by the club’s board.
Franck Ribery, Mats Hummels and Arjen Robben have all been allowed to leave the club, but Niko Kovac has managed to sign Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard.
Deals for Callum Hudson-Odoi and Leroy Sane have yet to be finalised and Kroth admits his client may move on. “Manuel is success-oriented,” he told Suddeutsche Zeitung.
“My impression is that the gap to the top four English top teams is already serious and the Munich squad is currently not yet as competitive or set up to tackle Manuel’s goals seriously. “When he realises that Bayern are responding, then he will probably blossom again.
He does not want to retire in 2021. Now he is in the phase in which he has to decide: how will things progress in the future. “Signing a contract extension and ending his career at Bayern is of course the obvious option, but it’s not the only one.” Neuer struggled with injuries last season but he is fit and ready to go ahead of the new Bundesliga campaign.
Bayern failed in Europe last year but they are 11.00 to win this season’s Champions League.
