Manchester United have started talks with Serbian midfielder, Nemanja Matic in view of extending the contract or the former Chelsea Midfielder.
The midfielder has featured for the Red Devils on twelve occasions so far in the 2019/2020 English Premier League season.
Matic’s contract has a clause of extending his contract by a year more, and his initial 3-year contract will expire in the summer.
Talks have started with the 31-Year Old who has made One Hundred and Nine appearances for the Old Trafford side after joining from London Club Chelsea three years ago.
The Manchester United midfielder, who joined the Red Devil’s from Chelsea has had his future made clear ahead of an important summer transfer window for Manchester United.
United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to make a lot of changes and signings his second summer transfer window in charge of the club. Many fans have predicted that there will be a lot of players leaving the club.
Matic was once among those expected to be shown the exit door this summer, especially as he nursed with the idea of leaving the club.
The 31-year-old Serbian was open to moving out of the club during the January transfer window. However, he has fought his way back into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans after he played well and pulled off some impressive performances during the absence of Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay.
The contract renewal would be perfect for both Matic and United because Matic has been spectacular in his last few games and giving him a one year contract would be just fine.
Although, it is also possible that Solskjaer could have extended his contract just to avoid him leaving the club for free that thought seems unlikely given his recent string of impressive performances.
The Serbia international has played in nine of the last 11 Premier League games for United, he missed only game one due to a one-game suspension and was not substituted in for the other.
Nemanja Matic who is known for his enormous work rate on the pitch and his combative style of play joined United in 2017 and has made 76 Premier League appearances for the club.
