Premier League clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur line up like sharks for Italian striker Andrea Belotti as Torino look to prepare for a squad overhaul this summer. Reports in Italian publication Tuttosport suggest that the Italian marksman may move abroad and join an English Premier League team this summer with multiple clubs interested in him.
The 27-year-old forward joined Torino back in 2015 from Palermo and his current contract with the club runs till 2022 and therefore Torino are looking to cash in on him this summer. Belotti has been linked with several clubs in the last few years but everything all the rumours fizzle out and he has stayed at Torino. However, now a departure from Italy looks imminent for the Italian forward.
In his six-year spell with Granata, the stocky forward has made over 200 appearances and scored 104 times along with 26 assists. He has grown at Torino from a youngster to a star player. Belotti was also rewarded for his consistent performances at the back end of 2016-17 season when the club management made him captain of the team to increase his importance in the team as there were multiple suitors at that time as well.
The interest from all three Premier League clubs are justified as Belotti is someone who likes to use his physicality and can hold the play up and also has great aerial prowess. He can even take on defenders and open spaces for others in the final third or rather just hover around the penalty area before making a smart move to free himself and put the ball in the back of the net. he is someone with great goal scoring instincts and he works hard and all these attributes fit him nicely as a Premier League striker.
Liverpool are in dire straits with their attacking force and while Diego Jota has been a breath of fresh air for the Reds they simply do not have a forward who can stamp that authority against the opposition defenders. Therefore Belotti can be that player who would like to hold the play up for the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane and also impose himself when the occasion arises. Manchester United also lack that variety in their attacking positions. While they have players with quick feet and acceleration they lack a no.9 who can hold the play up and contest in headers during setpieces. Belotti can complete the void left by Romelu Lukaku. For Spurs, it looks like they have more or less understood that Harry Kane will leave the club sooner rather than later and hence they are trying to bring the 27-year-old Italian to be his understudy for now and then be his replacement in the near future.
Belotti is a proven goalscorer and hence with his signing, there will be no shortage of goals. The 27-year-old has netted 12 goals in the Serie A this season along with seven assists for a team that is 16th in the Serie points table. If he leaves for the Premier League then he will definitely score more goals as he will get better service than what he is getting at the moment. It will be interesting to see where the Italian forward ends up at the start of next season.
