Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney urges Paul Pogba to leave old Trafford

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has urged star midfielder Paul Pogba to leave the club as it is better for both parties. The French midfielder’s future is still uncertain as his current contract runs out this summer.

According to Sky Sports, there are teams like Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain and Juventus who are interested in the French midfielder. All these clubs have made contact with Pogba‘s representatives.

Pogba leaving the club has been in rumours for some time now. Therefore Rooney feels it will be best for Pogbe to leave Old Trafford. He shares how the French midfielder has not had the impact that was expected from him and it is better for both parties to move away.

“I think it’s probably got to a point now where I think it’s probably best for him to move on now. I think if Paul is honest with himself he probably hasn’t had the impact he would have liked since he returned to Manchester United,” Rooney told Sky Sports.

Pogba has been a vital cog in midfield for Didier Deschamps’ France but has failed to replicate that form for Manchester United So Rooney believes that he is a completely different player for club and country.

“I watch him play for France and he’s a completely different player. The ability, vision and control of the game is there every game for France. It just hasn’t quite worked at Manchester United for him and I think there’s really a few players they need to let go.”

When quizzed why Pogba has not had that sort of an impact for the Red Devils, ROoney quickly shared how Manchester United have not had a settled manager for long term. It has not helped the Frenchman’s cause as he has failed to build that relationship with Pogba to get the best out of him.

“There hasn’t been a settled manager there probably since Sir Alex Ferguson. I think whoever comes in, they need to give them time. Need to give them time to build a relationship with players,” opined the Derby County manager.

Pogba recently spoke to Le Figaro sharing how things are different at France and also at Manhcester United. He highlights how he has a manager on whom he trusts and he has a proper position to play everyday. But the same is not the case at Old Trafford with his position being changed every other day.

“It’s simple with France, I play and I play in my position – I know my role and I feel the confidence of the coach and the players. It’s normal to feel a difference at Manchester United because it’s hard to be consistent when you often have a change to your position, or the team system, or your partners,” Paul Pogba shared.
