Manchester United are about to make their second signing of the summer, with the Premier League club getting closer to the final details of completing the transfer of an 18-year-old defender from Lille, Leny Yoro.
The teenage defender traveled into Manchester on Wednesday ahead of a medical that will finalize the £52m deal as reported by several sources.
Leny Yoro was heavily linked with several top European clubs including Real Madrid who were not ready to pay beyond 30 million euros for the defender who had one year left on his contract with the French club Lille.
The French man only made his senior team debut for Lille 2 years ago as a 16-year-old and was included in France’s provisional Olympics squad before he was excluded by coach Thierry Henry because Lille will be playing in the qualification rounds of the UEFA champions league.
Meanwhile, he was never the first choice for Manchester United who had initial interest in Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite but the Merseyside club rejected two offers from the Red Devils as it fell short of their over 70 million pounds valuation for the defender.
Manchester United was also looking toward Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt, and are holding negotiations with Bayern Munich for the defender.
Manchester United is looking for defensive clarity before the start of the season after the departure of French defender Raphael Varane while the future of Swedish defender Victor Lindelof is in doubt. Harry Maguire is also said to be having interest and offers from some other premier league clubs.
United already made their first signing with Joshua Zirkzee, who moved in from Bologna last week.
Meanwhile, the future of Mason Greenwood seems sorted as French club Marseille has agreed to a £27m fee for the signing of the forward who played last season at La Logs club Getafe.
