Jadon Sancho’s stock have fallen massively in the last few months. The English winger who was once considered as one of the best young players in Europe as he was wreaking havoc for Borussia Dortmund. He was snapped up by Manchester United for a big prize but the youngster has not lived up to the expectations since then. The United star dealt with a major blow when he was not picked in Gareth Southgate’s England team for the Qatar World Cup.
Sancho has been snubbed by United boss Erik ten Hag aswell as his performances have not been great. The Dutchman mentioned it many times and now Sancho has taken up this time to work on his mental and physical aspects to get back to the level he once was. Sancho currently is in the Netherlands working with coaches to get better. The individual training programme was introduced right after he was snubbed by Gareth Southgate from the England team for the recently concluded World Cup in Qatar.
Sancho did not even make it to the United squad that faced Burnley in the Carabao Cup. The Red Devils won the game 2-0 and after the win Erik ten Hag was asked about Jadon Sancho and his reaction made headlines as he did not seem very bothered and did not have a proper time frame of his return to action.
“Do you have any update on Sancho and when he’s coming back?,” Ten Hag was asked after United’s 2-0 win over Burnley. However the Dutchman simply came with a short ‘No’ as answer for both the questions.
Last week he shared how Sancho was not in the correct frame of mind but also suggested that he would like to bring him back to the team soon. “We want to bring him back as quickly as possible, but I can’t give a prognosis of when that will be,” Ten Hag told the press (h/t the Daily Mail).
He understands Sancho’s situation and feels that sometimes it happens with people that there’s a quality drop but they simply cannot understand what is exactly causing it. Therefore he wants him to work on his mental and physical aspects and get back stronger than ever.
“Sometimes there are circumstances with fitness and mood. We got a drop of quality level and sometimes you don’t know why or what is causing it. That is what we are doing now to try to get him back there. It is a combination of physically and mentally,” the Dutch tactician added.
Sancho has been nowhere near his best for United this season. Once known for his goal scoring prowess, Sancho has only featured in 14 games for the Red Devils having scored only three goals across all competitions in the 2022-23 season.
